I sometimes wish there was a real-life application for experience points. Many app developers and authors have implemented a way to incorporate it into making you feel better about your life somehow, but outside of that context, there's no way to use it.
When I was in Scouts, in the back of the Boy Scout handbook, there's a list of the things you need to do to get to the next level. You need a certain amount of time in your current rank, you need to get a certain amount of merit badges and/or skill awards, and the like.
When you're an adult, trying to get about the process of adulting, there's really not a road map, is there? Do we need one? Should we need one?
Let's say we did have some kind of experience points/level up process. What would we use it for? Unlimited trips to Starbucks? Free Lap Dance? Bacon? In that order?
These are the things I think about when I'm home alone and there's nothing interesting on the TV.
